TITLE  CD-ROM Drive Change in Bravo MS 5XXX

ISSUE

   The CD-ROM drive was changed on later Bravo MS systems resulting 
   in a possible real mode (DOS) driver compatibility issue.  This 
   issue would only affect software running in DOS mode which 
   requires access to the CD-ROM drive.  Windows 95 operation is 
   unaffected as all CD-ROM drivers are native to the operating 
   system.
   
   This issue may only arise if it is necessary to reload the 
   system's software from the included restore CD.  The system will 
   have the correct real mode drivers loaded at the factory.
   
   This issue could affect all Bravo MS and Bravo MST (51XX and 52XX) 
   systems that bear a serial number starting with 058.
   


BACKGROUND

   The restore CD was produced containing real mode drivers for the 
   originally qualified CD-ROM drive.  Due to availability issues 
   with the original CD-ROM drive it was necessary to qualify another 
   drive which, unfortunately, required the use of a different driver.


ACTION

   If your system is identified in the ISSUE section above as having 
   the alternate CD-ROM drive, and it is necessary to perform a CD 
   restore, you must reload the proper real mode drivers onto the 
   system once the restore is completed.  To accomplish this, follow 
   the procedure outlined in the notice included with the restore 
   diskette shipped with your system.
   
   If the restore diskette has been misplaced then it will be 
   necessary for you to download the file 14934031.EXE from any of 
   AST's on-line services.  After downloading this self-extracting 
   zip file expand it onto a floppy diskette and follow the 
   additional instructions included in the 24XFIX.TXT file after 
   performing your standard restore.
