TITLE:  Ascentia A, A+, DOS Programs
 
 
ISSUE 
 
   When running a DOS communication application on an Ascentia A or 
   A+ system, using a PCMCIA or
   external serial modem, the data transfer may be very slow.
   
   This issue may affect the following systems: 503149, 503297, 
   503151, 503150, 503255, 503375, and 503377.

ACTION 
 
   To resolve these issues, perform the following:
   
   1. Obtain file <A HREF="FTP://FTP.AST.COM/P-OTHER/SYSINIT.COM">SYSINIT.COM</A> from one of AST's On-Line! 
      services as follows:
      
         AST WWW Site:  http://www.ast.com
         AST On-Line! BBS*:  See IB0001.TXT
         CompuServe:  GO: ASTFORUM
         Prodigy:   JUMP: ASTSUPPORT
   
   2. Copy the file to the root directory.
   
   3. Using a text editor such as NOTEPAD, add the following
      line to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file to run <A HREF="FTP://FTP.AST.COM/P-OTHER/SYSINIT.COM">SYSINIT.COM</A> on 
      startup, 
   
               C:\SYSINIT.COM
   
   4. Reboot the system.
