TITLE:  cc:Mail Version 8 and Data Race Modem
 
 
ISSUE 
 
   When attempting to configure an Ascentia P 70 or Ascentia P80 
   with cc:Mail, version 8, using the internal Data Race Modem, the 
   following error message appears on the screen:
   
      Modem not detected. It still might be 
      supported, (older modem) call the cc:Mail BBS 
      1-415-691-0401 for the latest modem files.
   
        Modem doesn't support 9600 bps
   
        Modem is used by another program
   
        Select from list or try (GEN*.MDM)
   
   
   This issue affects all Ascentia P70 and Ascentia P80 systems 
   equipped with an internal modem.

ACTION 
 
   To resolve the issue, perform the following:
   
   1. Update the Data Race modem to version 7.25c. 
      File <A HREF="FTP://FTP.AST.COM/P-OTHER/JAM725C.EXE">JAM725C.EXE</A> is located on all of AST's On-Line! 
      services including the Web site.
   
      To install the drivers, please read the
      README.TXT file included in the download.
   
   2. Prior to launching cc:Mail version 8, copy the 
      <A HREF="FTP://FTP.AST.COM/P-OTHER/ASTP288I.MDM">ASTP288I.MDM</A> to the \Lotus\CCMAIL\MDM subdirectory. 
      File <A HREF="FTP://FTP.AST.COM/P-OTHER/ASTP288I.MDM">ASTP288I.MDM</A> is located on all of AST's On-Line! 
      services including the Web site.
   
      To install this file, follow the procedure stated 
      below:
   
      a. Copy the file <A HREF="FTP://FTP.AST.COM/P-OTHER/ASTP288I.MDM">ASTP288I.MDM</A> to the following 
         subdirectory:
   
            LOTUS\CCMAIL\MDM 
   
      b. Run cc:Mail Remote and the DataRace modem will 
         be detected.
