TITLE:  Madge Token Ring Adapter & Bravo MS-T
 
 
ISSUE 
 
   The Bravo MS-T system may experience a resource conflict when 
   installing a Madge 16/4 Token Ring ISA Client Plug-and-Play Ring 
   Node (RN) adapter in a Bravo MS-T 6200 and 6180. 
   
   This issue applies to the following systems: 503057 and 503058.    

 
BACKGROUND 
 
   The conflict occurs between the integrated Crystal audio chip and 
   the Madge 16/4 Token Ring ISA Client PnP RN adapter.    

 
ACTION 
 
   To resolve this issue, follow the instructions below.
   
   1.  Click on the 'Driver for Windows 95' and download 
       file WIN95.EXE from Madge’s ftp site at
       
       ftp://ftp.madge.com/anonymous/pub/adapters/tok_rng
       /lss/lss5.0/lss50.htm
   
   2.  Double-click on the file WIN95.EXE and extract the
       contents to a floppy diskette.
   
   3.  Go into Device Manager in Control Panel and verify
       that there are no conflicts. If the Madge Token Ring
       adapter is listed, remove it. Do not reboot the
       system at this time.
   
   4.  Copy files NETMADGE.INF, MDGMPORT.BIN, AND
       MDGMPORT.SYS, included in WIN95.EXE to the
       Windows\System subdirectory. Exit Windows 95.
   
   5.  Verify that the Madge card is connected to a Token
       Ring concentrator or MAU. 
   
   6.  Insert Disk 1 of the Madge LAN support software v4.32,
       or later, into floppy drive A:
   
   7.  Reboot the system.
   
   8.  The Madge configuration screen should appear. If it 
       does not, type TRCFG.EXE at the DOS prompt and press
       the [Enter] key.
   
   9.  Press the [F3] key to "configure any s/w configurable
       ringnodes".
   
   10. Press the [Enter] key to start.
   
   11. Press the [Enter] key again.
   
   12. Using the [Tab] key to navigate, change the settings
       to the following:
   
           I/O Port      0A40
           Interrupt     10
           Ring Speed    Set according to network speed
           Mode          Non-PNP (Locked)
           
   Note: By locking the configuration, Windows 95 will be
         unable to change these settings. If any other
         adapter uses the above settings, change them as
         required.
   
   13.  Press the [F4] key.
   
   14.  Press the [F4] key to update the configuration
   
   15.  Enter the Diagnostics area.
   
   16.  Run the Standard Diagnostics to verify that all
        tests pass.
   
   17.  Remove the diskette from drive A:
   
   18.  To clear memory, turn the system OFF, wait ten
        seconds, and then turn the system ON again.
   
   19.  Boot the system to Windows 95. Windows 95 will see
        the adapter and install the drivers. You may be
        prompted for the Madge disk. Use the floppy diskette
        that you prepared in step 2 above.
   
   20.  Open Device Manager and verify that there are no
        conflicts.
   
   21.  Also verify that the three drivers you originally
        copied into the Windows\System subdirectory are the
        same. You can do this by comparing the dates on each
        of the files.
   
   Your adapter is now installed and configured properly.
