TITLE: Adv! 600/800 CD-ROM, HD Restore Diskette
 
 
SUMMARY 
 
   The Hard Disk Restore kit may not recognize the Torisan CD-ROM 
   drive on the Advantage! 600 and 800 series.

   This issue only affects systems fitted with the Torisan CDR-S1G 
   drive, and shipped with restore diskettes older than version 1.03
   (AST part number 912406-XXX).  The issue resides in the CD 
   Autodetect program's index table.


ISSUE 
 
   After booting with the Hard Disk Restore diskette, the system may 
   report the following messages:

      Device driver not found 'IDECD_00'
      No valid CDROM device driver selected.

      Drive Number=1
      No CD-ROM found

      Drive Number=2
      No CD-ROM found

      The CD-ROM drive is not responding or can not be identified!

      The software restore is INCOMPLETE.


BACKGROUND 
 
   The utility is not able to find Torisan CD-ROM drive with firmware
   2.15, with the embedded name: 

      CD-ROM  CDR_S1G 

   It is only able to detect earlier revisions of firmware 2.14 and 
   older, where the name is CD-ROM CDR-S1G.

NOTES 
 
   Systems carrying diskette part number 912591-XXX have been amended.

   The CDDATA.txt file on the Hard Disk Restore diskette has been
   modified to include the Torisan CD-ROM Drive Model CDR_S1G.
