TITLE: ProStation, Sound Blaster CD-ROM Kit


SUMMARY

   When the Creative Labs Plug-and-Play (PnP) Value Pack CD-ROM 
   drive kit is installed in a ProStation, the CD-ROM may not work.

   This issue applies to the ProStation, AST part number 501759.


ISSUE

   The Goldstar CD-ROM DOS driver that ships with the Creative Labs
   PnP Value Pack kit may not properly initialize the CD-ROM.


BACKGROUND

   The DOS driver creates an I/O address and IRQ conflict.


ACTION

   Goldstar has posted a revision of the driver (GCDR542B.ZIP) in a 
   zipped format.  The newer driver configures the hardware to 
   I/O address 170 and IRQ 15.

   Download file GCDR542B.ZIP from Goldstar's web site
   (http://www.goldstar.co.kr), unzip it, and run INSTALL.EXE.


NOTES

   The ProStation switch settings should be set to enable IRQ 15.
   Switch 2 (SW2) is used to select IRQ settings.  
   The ProStation ships with all switches in the ON position 
   (IRQ disabled).  To enable IRQ 15, set SW2-switch 4 to the OFF
   position.
