TITLE: Premmia GX and Adaptec PCI 2940


SUMMARY

   The Premmia GX system may experience a POST error when an Adaptec
   adapter is installed.

   This issue applies to all the Premmia GX systems.


ISSUE

   When an Adaptec PCI 2940 SCSI adapter is installed in a Premmia GX,
   the system may display POST error 16.02 (below) during a warm boot.

        Board was installed but not configured in slot 15.

   This will occur only with Premmia GX BIOS versions 3.00 and 3.01.


BACKGROUND

    The Adaptec PCI 2940 SCSI is automatically configured during 
    initial installation, and may conflict with system resources.


ACTION

   1. Run the EISA Configuration Utility (EISACU) version 1.08 
      (AST Part Number 911371-039).  File <A HREF="ftp://ftp.ast.com/D-OTHER/11371039.EXE">11371039.EXE</A> is downloadable
      from any one of AST's On-Line! services below:

   2. Under EISACU, configure the Adaptec PCI 2940 for any of the offered 
      options for the I/O starting address, in the range between 
      "0F000h-0F0FFh" and "0FF00h-0FFFFh", except for I/O address 
      "0FC00h-0FCFFh".
