AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1330 7-17-96 TITLE: SCO OpenServer 5.0 Install NCR PCI SCSI SUMMARY Systems may report an error after SCO OpenServer installation. This issue applies to all AST systems with NCR PCI SCSI controllers, including the Manhattan P, V, and G and the Premmia GX. ISSUE After initial installation of SCO OpenServer version 5.0, AST systems may report the following error: "PANIC: HTFS: Fatal error reading inode block 2626 on HTFS dev hd (1/42)" BACKGROUND AST systems with an on-board NCR SCSI controller currently ship with a driver (P/N 911283-314) that is designed for SCO UNIX version 3.2.4.2, or Open Desktop version 3.0. This driver will not work with SCO OpenServer 5.0, resulting in the error message above. ACTION AST released an updated driver, version 1.08 (part number 911283-319), which is compatible with OpenServer version 5.0, as well as backward compatible with Open Desktop version 3.0 and UNIX version 3.2.4.2.
