				   EXTERNAL KEYPAD ON ASCENTIA 800N


PROBLEM

Using system BIOS 1.06, the Ascentia 800N may not recognize an external keypad 
(part number 501495-001) attached to its Mouse/Keypad Port.  


CAUSE

Version 1.06 of the Ascentia 800N BIOS is not compatible with this option.

SOLUTION

Update the Ascentia 800N system BIOS to version 1.08.   File <A HREF="ftp://ftp.ast.com/P-BIOS/548032.EXE">548032.EXE</A> can be 
found on AST's BBS, (817) 230-6850, in the "Systems" file area.  AST's BBS
supports modem speeds up to 28.8k bps.  The above file will also be posted
