These installation notes provide system requirements, installation instructions, and other information to help you start using the IBM Office Connect Analytics Edition, Version 4.0.
Office Connect supports the following platforms:
Microsoft Windows XP
Microsoft Windows 2000 (Server and Professional), with Service Pack 1 or higher
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, with Service Pack 4 or higher
Microsoft Windows 98
The computer on which you install Office Connect (usually your development computer) requires:
A hard drive with 100 MB available for a typical install (or 65 MB for a minimal install)
Microsoft Excel, Version
2000, with Service Pack 1 or higher
or
Microsoft Excel XP, with Service Pack 1 or higher
IBM DB2 Universal Database
Version 8.1 (FixPak 2 or later) client software and
IBM DB2 Cube Views Version 8.1
IMPORTANT: Before you install Office Connect 4.0, you must uninstall all previous versions of Office Connect, using the Add/Remove utility in the Windows Control Panel. After uninstalling Office Connect, you must shut down and restart your computer.
To install Office Connect Version 4.0
The Office Connect installation adds the IBM Office Connect menu to the Microsoft Excel menu bar and adds the Office Connect-Excel integrated toolbar to the Excel window. Use the commands on these tools to launch the different components of Office Connect.
Occasionally, Excel will not automatically display the IBM Office Connect menu options and toolbar after installation, and you will need to display the options and toolbar manually.
