CF容量 4GB超 調べ ［to Over 4GB CF, check (English) ］
「PC110」で"SSTV"信号が受信出来ないかと、無謀な挑戦中だが、その途上で、ふと気になったのが、目下色々なファイル群の転送用に使っている（"Transcendラベルの付いた）4GB-CF"のことだ。（図１の下側）
このCFは、"「PC110」には、認識も、ブートも出来ないので使えない！"という烙印を押してある。
しかし、α-DATA製の16GBや4GBなどは、以前から「PC110」で使えているので、もしかしたら、Transcendラベルの付いたものは、不適合品なのかもしれないと、思っていた。
（C国製品には、紛い物が多いから、ラベルだけでは、真贋は不明）
先日、偶々、"てんまにちゃん"氏の記事を拝見していて、同じTranscend製だが、ラベルのデザインの違いで可、不可があるらしいことに気が付いた。
それで、類似のデザインのものを買ってみた。（図１右上）
（が、"eBay UK"で購入したのは、価格の点（\2K以下を期待）でちょと失敗だった。そうだ！ドル払いではなく、ポンド払いであったよなぁ！£１５≒￥２,５５０ 苦笑）
まぁ、それは、さておいて、今回買った"4GB-CF"（図２［クリック］の左側）の方は、難無く「PC110」で認識されて、「PC-DOS」もブートも出来た。
他方、"ブート不可のCF"も、「Win95」上では、ちゃんとディスクとして扱われているから面白い！
尚、"Win2K"を載せた"4GB-CF"は、起動マシンを替えている内に、正常起動しなくなった。
（その内、暇が出来たら、"健康なマシン"に、クリーン・インストールしてみるかな？笑）
そして、CFの確認には、「PC110」として、FDから起動出来るので、「No.13:杉」を使った。
他方、"SSTV実験機"には、サウンド系がしっかりしている「No.5:五郎」を使っている。

このCF（図４［クリック］）は、今回、新たに領域を取り直した。
「PC-DOS」用のfdisk、formatを使うと、2GB刻みのパーティションが3つしか取れないので、「Win98」用のfdisk、formatを使って、一杯まで確保。
それで、Cドライブとして、半分の約8GBの領域が、確保出来た。（図３）
（残りも、多分利用可能だろうが、今回は、起動確認だけが趣旨なので、触らず）
一応、このCFで、「Win98-DOS」を、使えるようにした。

昔、色々な"Win-OS"を入れて愉しんでいた時代に、試しに「Win2000」を入れたことがあった。
その時に、使っていた"4GB-CF"（図６［クリック］）が、残っていたので、それでそのまま、起動してみた。
当然、正常な起動ではなかったが、"起動すること"は可能だと分かった。（図５）
今回は、それだけで、チェックを終えた。
改めて、「Win2000」を入れてみるのも一興だが、今は、"SSTV"や"CW"の検出・解読の可否に、暫く没頭したいので、それは、またいずれかの日に。

．．．あれやこれや、作業をしている内に、「No.13:杉」の表示が、出なくなってしまった。
改修した（はずの）"FSTN-LCD"が、また不良化したのだろうが、画面が見えなくなるのは、困ったものだ。
急遽、「7型ディスプレイ」を外付けして、難を逃れた。
やはり、移動可能な小型の"外付けディスプレイ"は、幾つあっても、便利だ！

CF capacity over 4GB , Check
I'm trying recklessly to see if I can receive the "SSTV" signal with " PC110 ", but on the way, I suddenly noticed the 4GB-CF labeled " Transcend ) as a carrier of files. ( lower side of Fig.1 )
This CF should be tagged as "Cannot be used!" because " PC110 " cannot recogniz or booted with It.
However, 16GB and 4GB made by α-DATA have always been boot and work on " PC110 ",I thought the inner of labeled "Transcend" may be a unbootable goods.
(Since there are many miscellaneous items of Chaina products, the authenticity is unknown from the label alone.)
The other day, I happened to see an article by " Tenmani-chan ", and it was made of the same Transcend , but due to the difference in label design. I noticed that there seems to be yes and no.
So I seeked and bought one with a similar design. ( Fig.1 upper right )
(I bought it at " eBay UK ", but it was a bit of a failure in terms of price expecting less than \ 2K).
Aha! I paid in pounds instead of dollars. It was! £15 ≒ JPY 2,550 (bitter smile)
Well, by the way, the left side of the " 4GB-CF " ( Fig.2 [click] I bought this time, was recognized by " PC110 " without difficulty, and " PC-DOS " can also be booting.
On the other hand, when this "Non-bootable CF" is browsed on " Win95 ", and so it is treated as a normal disc/strage media! Like this!
In addition, "4GB-CF" contained " Win2K " did not boot up normally, because I had changed the booting machine.
(Hmmu, if I have free time, I'll try a install to some "healthy machine"? lol)
And to check the CF with a " PC110 ", I used " No.13:Sugi/Ceder " which can read and boot from FD.
On the other hand, the "SSTV experimental machine" uses " No.5:Gorou ", which has a normal sound recieve function.

++++ α-DATA 16GB-CF ++++
This CF ( Fig.4 [click] ) has been checked this time.
When I use fdisk and format of " PC-DOS ", I can only get 3 partitions in 2GB increments, soI use fdisk and format of " Win98 ", and I got full area of half size (8GB of 16GB).
Therefore, about 8GB (half of the 16GB) area was secured as the C drive. ( Fig.3 )
(The rest will probably be available, but this time, the purpose is only to confirm the startup, so I didn't touch it.)
For the time being, I tried to use " Win98-DOS " for this CF.
++++ α-DATA 4GB-CF ++++
A long time ago, when I was having fun with various "Win-OS", I put " Win2000 " as a trial was there.
At that time, the "4GB-CF" I was using ( Fig. 6 [click] ) remained, so I try to start it as it was.
Of course, it wasn't a normal boot, but it turned out to be possible to "boot". ( Fig.5 )
This time, that is all.
It would be fun to add " Win2000 " again, but now I want to immerse myself in the detection and decoding of "SSTV" and "CW" for a while. Also on any day.

... While I was working on this and that, the display of " No.13: Sugi " disappeared.
The repaired (should) "FSTN-LCD" may have deteriorated again, but it is a problem now that the screen disappears.
In a hurry, I escaped the difficulty by attaching an external " 7-inch display " .
After all, there are many small, movable "external displays" that are convenient!
