HP OMNIBOOK 600C/600CT/4000 NOTEBOOK PCS - CONFIGURING MADGE TOKEN
RING CARD
BRIEF INSTRUCTIONS ON CONFIGURING A MADGE TOKEN RING CARD IN AN HP
OMNIBOOK 4000, 600C, OR 600CT NOTEBOOK PC
1. New drivers are required
2. The 2882fix.zip contains files for the PCMCIA version of the
Madge token ring card. It adds support for IO location 320h
and 360h. 320h works well on the HP OmniBook 600 and 4000
Notebook PCs. 360h did not work on the HP OmniBook 600
Notebook PC but was not tried on the HP OmniBook 4000
Notebook PC.
3. A Smart.cfg file needs to be created. This file should
exist in the same directory as the smart.exe program.
[host]
[card]
io=320
irq=10
[ipx]
[odi]
FRAME TOKEN-RING
odi.sr=yes
4. Add this to the autoexec.bat file for the Madge drivers.
This can also be typed manually.
FOR VLM:
\lsl
\smart path=c:\madge\
\vlm
Smart seems to work fairly well for the Novell environment.
FOR NETX:
\lsl
\smart path=c:\madge\
\ipxodi
\netx
