HP OMNIBOOK 300 AND 425 - MICROSOFT (R) 4.0 EXCEL Q&E SETUP
ISSUE:HP OmniBook 300 and 425 - Microsoft 4.0 Excel Q&E Setup
SOLUTION:This procedure describes how to custom install
Microsoft 4.0 Excel Q&E on the HP OmniBook 300 and 425
and requires the following:
* A LapLink Remote connection between the HP OmniBook
300 and 425 and a desktop PC
* Microsoft Excel for Windows v 4.0 master disks
A LapLink Remote connection must be active between the
HP OmniBook 300 or 425 and the desktop PC before
continuing this procedure. Refer to the HP OmniBook
Operating Guide page 2-7 for information on installing
LapLink Remote. Record the drive letter mapping
between the HP OmniBook 300 or 425 and the PC. In the
following steps, drive G:on the HP OmniBook 300 or 425
corresponds to drive A:on the PC. Substitute the
appropriate drive letter for your particular system.
1. Copy shell.dll from the desktop PC's
c:\windows\system directory to the \windows\system
subdirectory of the HP OmniBook 300 or 425.
2. Place Microsoft Excel for Windows v 4.0 Disk 1 in
the desktop PC's drive A or B.
3. On the HP OmniBook 300 or 425, enter the Program
Manager.
4. From the File Menu, choose Run.
5. Type g:\setup [Enter].
6. If prompted, enter your name and press the [Enter]
key - press [C] to continue.
7. Ensure that the setup program is installing to
c:\excel - press [C] to continue.
8. When prompted, choose Custom Installation.
9. At the Microsoft Excel Setup Options window, click
on all boxes except Q&E to deselect.
10. Choose Setup to continue.
11. Replace Disk 1 with Disk 5 on the PC when
prompted.
The installation process will now continue without
interruption. Pressing [F3] on the HP OmniBook 300 or
425 will abort the installation. For instructions on
using Q&E, consult your Microsoft Excel manual.
