IBM ThinkPad 760e
IBM 760 line was the most advanced IBM notebooks line in mid-90s. Introduced in 1995, 760 models were manufactured until 1998. There were many models of this line, some had additional multimedia capabilities, CD-ROM drives or XGA displays. 760E is a model with CD-ROM drive embedded in removable drive bay, which allowed to swap it for a floppy drive or extended battery. 760E has Pentium processor, in this model IBM decided to drop RAM cards too - RAM was upgradeable with DIMM EDO modules.

The history of my unit is interesting. I bought it in a flea market for almost nothing with a huge dock as not working unit and I bought it because it had rare 32MB EDO SODIMM RAM modules and 100MHz CPU. I quickly figured out that this problem is a shorted diode in inverter and fixed it, making the device fully functional. I was working on it with Windows 98 for a month, later I got another unit with faster Pentium processor (133MHz) for free, but it had shattered casing and screen. I re-assembled it in my casing (preserving bottom one with CD-ROM drive bay), which was hard as ThinkPads with UltraBay and UltraBay Thick are not 100% mechanically compatible with each other, it lost external FDD connector in this operation. It was used in few presentations, but it constantly suffered overheating problems so it had to be used with keyboard lift set up and telecommunications module removed to provide enough air to cool CPU down. After its HDD got too many bad sectors, I stopped using it.
