Software for Meritum computer
Because noone thinks about software for Meritum, I'm doing it. These programs will work on Meritum I, they are tested and they seem to work well. Unfortunately it's really hard to salvage a BASIC program for Meritum as there are no good checking routines. Machine code programs have very limited routines and you don't know will they work. All of BASIC programs are dumped from cassette tapes to Meritum and then re-recorded back to PC as WAV. Machine code programs were recovered using TRS-80 tools which seem to work with machine code programs, but not with BASIC programs.
To load: Connect Meritum to PC sound card, turn on
both, then type CLOAD on Meritum and press Enter. Start playing sound on
a PC. Watch Meritum screen, exactly its upper-right corner: One
character -
too silent. Two characters - too loud (RESET Meritum before next try!). One
still character and one blinking irregularly - Good!
If it doesn't work, try to invert waveform - some sound cards just play
it wrong.

| Description: This course was a well-known 8-lesson course for TRS-80 (accessible in TOSEC collection) translated to Polish and ported to Meritum (graphing routine is a little different, delays are replaced by keypresses). The first lesson even had the starting rocket animation! It came on 4 cassettes. Unfortunately I got only two, with one side recorded with piano music. I recovered only lessons 4, 7 and 8. Each lesson consists of 3 or 4 parts, which are separate BASIC programs. |

| Description: This program simulates a simple musical instrument you can play with number keys. When two keys are pressed, program tries to play sound of these mixed. This program hangs Meritum until Reset or NMI. |

| Description: Assembler and editor for Meritum is in fact Tandy Editor/Assembler translated to Polish. Tandy/Radio shack messages are replaced with keyboard shortcut hints. Because the tape was copy-of-a-copy (with pieces of English EDTASM on the bottom), it was restored using PC and then tested on Meritum. To run it: |

| Description: Atlantis text adventure game (with character graphics) ported to Meritum. Although information about licencing is included, I made some research and discovered it's fake. Completely in English. It seems that someone took a code of TRS-80 game and re-written it directly into Meritum. Maybe one of tries to port this game? It was finally ported as it's listed in Meritum software list in a book about computer. |
