Expandable Closets

Speaking of filling up closets, the new Cirrus Logic CL-SH360 Integrated PC XT/AT Disk Controller might help save you some valuable storage space on your hard disk. The new controller uses an enabling technology that brings mainframe-computer-level storage density and performance to the personal computer. It will, for example, increase the density of a single-platter 3½-inch drive to 80MB from the current high of 40MB without changing the heads or medium. It's not yet available to the general public, but it should hit the streets during the third quarter of this year under a variety of brand names.
