What is this list for?
To share information about all aspects of The Transformers™ (except
Animorphs, see below for more info).

Who is responsible for the origination and maintenance of this list?
Greg Gaub created it, maintains it, and can destroy it at his will. :P

When was this list established?
Wednesday, April 23, 1997 - although it has been through a few changes,
such as moving from one list server to another.

What is this list's Official name?
"Greg Gaub's Transformers Mailing List, The Cybertronian Conference"
Thanks to Adrian McCanna for his suggestion which inspired the final name

What about an UN-official name?
Well, you can call it many things. Probably the most common is "Greg
Gaub's list", but becoming more popular is the use of "CC" or "CybCon"
in reference to this list. I kind of like "CybCon" myself. :)

What is this list's slogan?
"Slag Happens" - Thanks to John DeLuna for the origination of this
    slogan

What do the symbols on the logo mean?
The red side is the Maximal Text font for the letter "C" and the purple
side is the Decepticon Regular font for the letter "C". Thanks go to
Giedi Prime for his wonderful Sci-Fi and Fantasy Fonts.

How to I post an original message to The Cybertronian Conference?

    old one.

This list sux. How do I get off it?
    Send a blank e-mail to cybcon-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

What subjects are acceptable on The Cybertronian Conference?
Please keep messages on the topic of Transformers™ in some way. If
someone posts a messages of a personal or otherwise off-topic nature, and
you feel the need to reply, PLEASE change the TO: address to that of the
original sender of the message. Do NOT perpetuate off-topic threads on the
mailing list when not absolutely necessary. If the list turns into a non-
TF list as a result of off-topic messages, moderation will be activated
until the subject matter focuses again on Transformers.

Can I post classified ads to the list?
Auctions/Ads are permitted, but DO NOT post duplicate messages more
than once per week. Feel free to send messages asking if people are
willing to sell a toy you want, or make a trade. If you'd like to sell
some of your own TFs, you are strongly encouraged to use the FREE TF
    Auctions at the following address:
    http://www.ggaub.com/cgi-bin/auction.cgi
After you place your items up for auction, feel free to notify the
mailing list of the availability of your toys.

Can I start a flame war?
Please refrain from personal insults. If you feel it necessary to insult
someone, take it off the list. I'd hope that any Transformer fan would be
civil enough to hold back when someone hits a nerve, but I know that's not
the case. E-groups affords me the ability to moderate the entire list, or
individual members. If you're a problematic person, you'll be moderated,
with, or without your knowledge. In other words, don't bother.

Can I send file attachments to the list?
Aside from the whole virus angle of sending file attachments to large
groups of people, it's just plain inconsiderate. Not only are there a lot
of people who simply CANNOT receive file attachments, there are a lot more
who are using modem connections of 28.8kbps or less. File attachments can
cause serious amounts of extra download time, even as far as crippling
someone's system. No. If you really feel you must share a file, of ANY
size, please FIRST upload it into the CybCon Files:
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cybcon/files/
After the file has been uploaded, send a message to the mailing list
notifying the list members that you have uploaded a file to the vault that
you would like them to download. Be sure to explain what it is, and why
they should spend time downloading it. You can even include the URL of the
file itself, making it quick and easy for list members to access the file.
Members may then download the file at their leisure, and everyone's happy.

How do I share info that might be a "Spoiler"?
For those who don't know, a "Spoiler" is any bit of information that might
"ruin" a well planned story line for another person by telling them what
happens next. Kind of like when you're watching a movie you've seen with
someone who hasn't seen it, and they ask you not to "spoil" it for them.
Following are some simple guidelines to follow when you want to send a
    message with potential "spoilers".

Please make sure you indicate in the Subject line that the post contains
spoilers and for what episode... It might also be kind to note whether it
is a review of the episode, or merely speculation using rumored/factual
    knowledge of the episode...

As for the message itself, the first line should let people know (Without
any information concerning plot or likewise) that this post is all about
the episode "X" (In this case, Feral Scream) and you should proceed with
a healthy dose of "Spoiler Space" which is basically hitting the return
key several times to create room so that the reader will not be able to
read the "spoiling" information without having to intentionally scroll
    down...

It is perfectly okay to post reviews of episodes, just as long as
Spoiler-Proof guidelines are followed. When people put info into headers
and main bodies without warning, it is slightly frowned upon by those who
    enjoy the element of surprise.

Here's a quick example of what a good post should look like that contains
    spoilers...

Subject: Review of Feral Scream, pt1 (SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Message: Caught Feral Scream this morning, a very good episode and well
worth the wait. Review follows the space...

    S
    P
    O
    I
    L
    E
    R

    S
    P
    A
    C
    E

Then here is where the review would reside...
Simple, eh? Let's just hope everyone can do this small thing so that
everyone remains happy during "New Episode Times"
Thanks go to Larry Sharp (aka Aldalin) for this guide to sharing spoilers.

Can I talk about Animorphs on the Cybertronian Conference?
    SLAG NO!!!
    Well, yes and no. :|
Most list members have agreed that Animorphs do not belong in the same
sentence as the term "Transformers", even though Hasbro decided to stick
that label onto them. It's usually ok to talk about the Animorphs TOYS,
since some of them aren't entirely crap. But once you start talking about
the story behind Animorphs, and any other related stuff, you'd better put
your asbestos underoos on, 'cus it's FLAMING TIME! :P
Why? You may ask. Well, mostly because Animorphs really have NOTHING to
do with Transformers, in any way, shape, or form. The only reason the word
"Transformers" even appears on the Animorphs toy packages, commercials, or
anything else, is because Hasbro decided to try to boost the sales of the
Animorphs toys by arbitrarily placing them in the same class as
Transformers and Beast Wars. A very large percentage of TF fans are upset
    by this decision.
The best thing to do is to just steer clear of Animorph commentary on the
Cybertronian Conference, hence avoiding any possible uproar.
Rest assured, if someone gets the list into a tizzy, moderation will ensue
to curb the trend. List traffic will quickly die and revert to it's
normal, TF-centric state of being. :)
    Question Answered.

Can I forward chain letters of any kind to the CC?
    What, are you an idiot?
Forwarding a chain letter of any kind, no matter how serious you *think*
it is, will bring on the wrath of the moderator. Aside from that, you'll
probably gain a few enemies, because NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY, likes
    chain mail. Got it?

Does the CybCon have a way to chat?
We did, but no one used it, really, so why bother?

What is this "TF Bible" thing that we get every Friday?
The "TF Bible" is the writer's bible for the original Transformers cartoon
series. Mardhen Bravo (aka Dai Atlas) received a copy from one of the writers
of the original series. Although he was asked not to pass out copies of the
actual document, he's bending the rules a little and transcribing the text
from each page. He's sharing one page per week, which promises to last for a
good long time to come. This is NOT some fan creation by any means. This is
the REAL THING. Mardhen is even leaving in the typos and other errors. The
only thing we are not getting are the pictures that accompany many pages. :\

Any other questions? If so, please ask them in a complete and understandable
    (hopefully straight-forward) manner.
