When cold, change the contrast

Here in southeastern Iowa where I live, the winter temperatures often drop down to well below zero Fahrenheit during the night. If I leave my palmtop in the glove compartment overnight, I notice in the morning that the screen is so dark its almost impossible to read. However, when I bring the palmtop indoors and it warms up, the screen contrast returns to normal.

For the first few weeks that I owned the unit, I thought I had to warm it up before using it.

Then I learned that the palmtop can, in fact, be used when it is very cold. All you have to do is adjust the contrast.

Here's how to set the contrast, which can be done from within any application:

- To lighten the contrast, press (ON)+(-), i.e., hold down the (ON) key and at the same time press the (-) key.

- To darken the contrast, press (ON)+(+).

The contrast can also be set from within Setup. Press (CTRL)+(FILER), MENU, Options, System, TAB down to Contrast, then use the Arrow keys to set the contrast.
