Let's say you want to review the MEMO files you have on your Palmtop and for the moment only want FILER to display files with a .DOC file extension.
On the HP 100/200LX
Open Filer and press (F4) (Filter), key in *.DOC and press (ENTER). Only files with a .DOC extension will be displayed. Press (F4)(F8) to reset the view to display all files. You can also press (MENU) Options Sort, select Extension and press (F10). Filer will organize files alphabetically by file extension, displaying, for example, .BAT files first, .COM files next, and .DOC files after that.
On the HP 95LX
The 95LX is a little more limited in the way it can sort and display files. You press (MENU) File-Sort Extension in Filer to display files organized alphabetically by file extension (.BAT first, .COM next, etc.). If you want to get a listing of a particular type of file only, first make sure all other applications are closed down. Then press (MENU) System to exit to the DOS prompt and use the DOS Directory command to list the files. For example, to list all Memo .TXT files type dir *.txt at the DOS prompt and press (ENTER).
