MED3201 (AMD Interwave-based sound card)

Contains the latest DOS/WIN3.X drivers, utilities, mixer and tools to create an installation disk and to update the Plug & Play EEPROM with the latest PnP map.

MED3700 / MED3719 (Yamaha OPL3-SAx-based sound card)

DOS SETUPSA version 1.01
Contains the DOS initialisation and mixer tools, and drivers for Windows 3.1 including the YStation v1.21 application.
Unzip both files using the -d argument to retain the directory structure.

DOS Driver

From the ExpertColor MED3770 driver CD-ROM disc (ID-7102211), in the 'APPLI' subdirectory. This has INSTALL.EXE version 1.20 and SETUPSA.EXE version 1.00.
Note: the latest and most bug-free version of SETUPSA is v2.20.


MED3931 (OPTi 82C931-based sound card)

DOS Drivers
Version 1.04

MED3931 requires SNDINIT to be run before the card will work. The ZIP file includes a batch file-based installer called 931DOS.BAT - this expects that it's being run from A: so if you have these files in a subdirectory on your hard disk, use the DOS SUBST utility.

SNDINIT expects an environment variable called SOUND16 to be present. The value of this is the directory where the drivers are installed, e.g. C:\82C931

DOS, Windows 3.1, 95 & NT 4.0 Drivers

DOS portion of this is only accessible after installation in Windows. Also contains an EPROM tool which can reallocate your PnP ID if it's incorrect.

Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0 Drivers

These are the reference drivers from S3 (not from ExpertColor themselves), and include the DOS initialisation driver and mixer, plus the Windows 95/98/ME drivers.

Check in your windows\system32\drivers or windows\syswow64\drivers folder for the file GM.DLS or WIN_GM.DLS- this is the Microsoft GS Wavetable synth sound bank. It is considered very poor quality. Roland Corporation hold the copyright for this file.

Drivers and utilities for the ExpertColor Canarias CA3224/CA3240 graphics card.

From the ExpertColor driver CD with ID 710211.
v4.03.00.2101-3.02.03c (Windows 95, 25 Feb 1997). Includes S3 Refresh Rate Utility v2.01.01A, S3 Color Utility v1.00.06, and S3D Tool Kit v4.07.01, all dated 30 Jan 1997.
NT 4.0 driver is v1.03.08.
OS/2 driver is v2.81.03.
